About
The fishmonger's counter, delivered
Fish@Hom is a marketplace. You order from an independent London fishmonger. They pack from the slab. It is not a warehouse we stock under our own brand.
Why this exists
The first shop is Fish@Hom Hackney, at 12 Broadway Market, E8 4PH. Broadway Market is a working East London street — stalls on Saturday, neighbourhood shops the rest of the week. The fish is already on the counter. The gap was the people nearby who were not going to walk to it that afternoon.
So the platform does one job. A fishmonger sets a delivery radius from their door. They put today's counter stock online. You enter a postcode, see who can actually reach you, and buy from one shop. The order is packed at that counter and sent the same day. If two shops cover you, you choose. An order never splits across fishmongers.
A marketplace, not a warehouse
We do not buy fish into a depot and send it out as a house brand. The name on the shop page is the name packing your bag. That is the whole distinction from a next-day seafood website and from a supermarket counter you cannot get delivered the same evening.
Partnerships are shops, not listings we invent. Each fishmonger keeps their own address, radius, fees, and stock. We take the order and the card payment (Stripe). They portion, pack, and send.

Food safety and packing
Food hygiene sits with the fishmonger, as it does when you buy in person. They are the food business. They cut and pack. Fish is perishable; that is why this is same-day from the counter, not a next-day parcel from a cold store. Orders leave the shop chilled. We do not publish hygiene scores we have not stood in the shop to read — look the premises up, as you would before eating there.
How the catalogue stays honest
A product only appears if that shop has quantity available. Stock is a ledger: when they sell or adjust, the number moves. At checkout we check the postcode against the radius again, because a shop can pause and a customer can linger. If it is not on the page, they cannot pack it.
What we promise
You are buying what that counter has today, packed for you, delivered inside that shop's window and fee. Enter your postcode. If nobody reaches you yet, that is the answer — we will not draw a fake London-wide map to look busier than we are.
